About Me
My name is Luyuan. In Chinese, it means there is a long way ahead of me.
In many ways, my life has followed that path. It began at university, then slowly took me farther and farther away from my hometown, my family, and the life I once thought I would follow.
I followed my parents’ suggestion and studied engineering at university so that I could find a decent job after graduation. And I did. After that, I put all my heart into my job and became more and more professional, taking on more and more responsibilities. But there was always a quiet voice inside me, reminding me of the life I once thought about.
After I executed one successful overseas project after another, I couldn’t ignore that voice anymore. Eventually, I left my previous career and came to Canada to study filmmaking and visual effects so that I could give shape to that voice — to become an artist, a storyteller.
Just like my name, there is a long way ahead of me — a road shaped by every frame I edit, every photo I take, every scene I shoot, and every story I try to tell. I’m happy to be on this path.
