About Me

My name is Luyuan. In Chinese, it means “a long road lies ahead.”

In many ways, my life has unfolded just like that. It began at university and gradually carried me farther and farther from my hometown, my family, and the life I once imagined for myself.

Following my parents’ advice, I studied engineering to secure a stable career after graduation. And I did. I devoted myself fully to my work, growing more skilled and taking on increasing responsibilities. Yet, beneath that steady progress, there was always a quiet voice within me — a reminder of a different path I had once envisioned.

After completing several successful overseas projects, I could no longer ignore that voice. Eventually, I made the decision to leave my career behind and come to Canada to study filmmaking and visual effects — to give form to that inner calling and pursue life as an artist and storyteller.

Like my name suggests, there is still a long road ahead of me — one shaped by every frame I edit, every photograph I capture, every scene I create, and every story I choose to tell. And I’m grateful to be on this journey.
