Short Films
Short documentary and narrative film work, including personal directing projects and collaborative editing work. Across these films, I am interested in rhythm, emotional structure, and the way editing can shape real or fictional moments into a clear cinematic experience.
Collaborative films are included with permission from the filmmakers.
Featured Short Film
Almost Famous
A short documentary about a Chinese international student in Canada who faces language and cultural barriers, and gradually begins to use music as a way to express herself. The film follows her growing desire to move toward a life shaped by music, with an emphasis on editing rhythm, emotional pacing, and music-driven storytelling.
Selected Editing Work
Close Cut
A documentary portrait of a barber reflecting on his past struggles, personal growth, and the role of his work in connecting with people in the community. As editor, my focus was on pacing, story rhythm, and shaping interview material into a grounded and engaging character piece.
Speed Dating
A narrative short about a man searching for love, whose life jumps forward every time he says “I love you.” The edit required restructuring parts of the original script order to create a smoother story flow, clearer emotional logic, and a more effective comedic rhythm.
